30 Days of Giving 2016, Day 11 – Athletes Pitch In To Community Service at Cayuga CC

Student athletes at Cayuga Community College pitch in for days of service to local community groups throughout the year. Over the past few years student athletes have been assisting the Auburn chapter of Habitat for Humanity with their housing renewal projects. This year, students from the baseball, softball, and basketball teams came together to plaster and prep for painting a house for a single mother and her daughter in Cayuga County.

In addition to Habitat for Humanity, another community partner that athletes have conducted service for is the historic Willard Chapel in downtown Auburn. This non-denominational historical chapel, designed by Tiffany, is run completely by volunteers. Every fall, student athletes from the basketball, soccer, and volleyball teams come together to help clean the interior and get out the holiday decorations in anticipation of the holiday season at the chapel.
