Hi everyone! My name is Shaniese Alston and I am the newest social media intern for the Office of New Media at SUNY System Administration. I am excited to become a new member of the team and lend my voice to the stories you will all be reading. I am a senior at University at Albany and I will be graduating in May 2014 with a degree in communications and a minor in business. I am originally from Freeport, Long Island.
Besides my love for social media, I am a certified fashion and beauty junkie. This past summer, I interned at L’Oreal USA headquarters in New York City for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics and it was an amazing experience (plus I got to take some free makeup). During my free time, I like to blog. I write for obaz.com and I have two blogs named Naturalista Beauty and Comfort Fashionista (check them out). As you all guessed, I hope to work in the fashion, beauty or entertainment fields as a public relations or marketing executive.
Hello everyone, my name is Phillip Leidner and I am a new intern for the Office of New Media at SUNY System Administration during the fall semester. I am a public policy major and a business administration minor at the University at Albany. I live off-campus but definitely do miss being in a clean campus dorm! This is my last semester attending the University at Albany; I will graduate in December.
I started my academic career at Nassau Community College in Long Island. After a year there, I transferred to the University at Albany and have been there ever since. My decision to start at Nassau was in hopes of transferring to a school to play basketball collegiality. After (quickly) realizing that was not in my cards, I chose the University at Albany for their prestige and well-known business program. After struggling to adapt to the new school environment and larger classes, I decided to make a change. Two years ago, I changed my major to public policy and am very glad I did so. I have learned far more than I could have hoped for, and throughout this internship I expect my knowledge to continue to grow.
Whether you have just ended your high school career or are transferring from another college, the transition can be tough. New school, new people, new everything is intimidating! Before you begin your journey to a new school, we (Mallory, Will, and I) have put together 8 tips for freshmen and transfers to make your upcoming academic year a success in all aspects!
Hi I’m Mallory!
I’d like to introduce myself as the newest digital media intern here at SUNY. As an Albany native and child of 2 SUNY alums, it was a no-brainer for me to choose a SUNY education at the Fashion Institute of Technology after I graduated high school. So far at FIT, I’ve been awarded an Associate’s Degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications in 2012 and am currently approaching my senior year and working on completing my Bachelor’s Degree in the same field by Spring 2014.
Hello everyone! My name is Hanna Teal, your newest source for all things research related. I have just joined Generation SUNY on behalf of the Research Foundation.
During the summer hours I live in a little town 30 minutes outside of Albany called Averill Park. Come this fall, I will be starting my final year at the University at Buffalo as an undergraduate and will achieve a joint degree in English and Communication.
My number one passion has always been writing. Once the writer of my own blog, I now am on my second year contributing to the Research Foundation facebook page. I hope to join the staff of the University at Buffalo’s new Center for Excellence in Writing this year to inspire other young students to get out there and write.
Through this blog I will be able to explore the facebook topics more in-depth and bring a student’s perspective to the latest news about SUNY research.
