New York State of the State Address highlights SUNY’s role in education and development

Governor Cuomo at the 2013 State of the State AddressGovernor Andrew M. Cuomo today delivered his 2013 State of the State Address, outlining a comprehensive agenda that builds on the progress of the past two years to attract good jobs and economic growth, create a world-class education system that prepares the next generation for the future, and much more.

SUNY Board Chairman H. Carl McCall and Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher were in attendance and were able to offer a joint statement on Governor Cuomo’s State of the State Address:

Governor Cuomo outlined a bold vision for New York that looks to fundamentally reshape the scope of our community colleges while incentivizing, among other measures, workforce training carried out in partnership with local employers. With a number of these programs already underway to meet the state’s workforce needs, we are confident that SUNY is equal to the task.

Binghamton University approved for NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant

This year, Governor Cuomo signed the Binghamton University NYSUNY 2020 challenge grant, which approves a plan that includes the development of a $70 million Smart Energy Center that will help revitalize the Southern Tier economy and create more than 840 Binghamton University and private sector jobs.
