This fall in an effort to connect incoming students to the local community, Binghamton University held its second annual Welcome Week Service Project program. Approximately 130 freshmen, twice the number from last year, worked on seven service projects at locations around Broome County. Students participated in several different projects around Broome County throughout the week. They spent time outdoors at BU Acres, where they learned skills in farming and sustainability. They also lent a helping hand at the Roberson Museum and Science Center, where they cleaned and organized. The students worked with CHOW to provide food to pantries and soup kitchens and also got the opportunity to build wheelchair ramps around the area.
