Each and every SUNY student has a uniquely inspiring story. Whether you are a current student working toward your degree or a graduate who has already completed one, your pathway to success is one that SUNY is proud to be a part of. And SUNY is committed to being a part of many more students’ stories – by increasing the number of degrees earned from 93,000 to 150,000 annually by 2020.
Currently, only 45 percent of working-age New Yorkers have college degrees, while estimates indicate that 67 percent of jobs will require a college degree or career certificate by 2020. By increasing the number of degrees, SUNY can better serve New Yorkers and meet the state’s growing needs.
SUNY is already making efforts to fulfill this goal. Every campus has launched programs with a proven track record of increasing access, improving retention and completion, and fostering student success. The challenge is in ensuring that these highly successful programs can be brought to scale, available to every one of the 460,000 students in the SUNY system – including you. The time to scale up proven student success programs is now.
Help us grow the SUNY Investment Fund by asking your legislator to Stand with SUNY at www.suny.edu/stand. Growing the Investment Fund will allow SUNY to bring these programs to scale. The $18M provided for in the 2015-16 Executive Budget is a start, but we need more in order to scale up our proven student success programs. Help us educate more people – and educate them better. Support New York’s educational priority and help SUNY be a part of more incredible student stories like yours.
Students stand with SUNY because SUNY has stood with us. The Student Assembly looks forward to continuing to work with leaders in Albany to make SUNY the very best that it can be for students.
