One of the nation’s most prestigious college ranking reports is out again as U.S. News & World Report has released it’s annual lists of Best Colleges and Universities in America for 2017. This publication is quite the comprehensive look across the country in a number of categories that measure quality and value among different types of schools.
The lists composed by U.S. News bring a focus to academic excellence, with schools ranked on up to 15 measures of academic quality. Statistics such as graduation and retention rates are key components of the rankings in each of the categories. These statistics are also key to the measure of student success in college.
Why does U.S. News put so much effort into publishing these rankings reports? Ultimately, the work done to compose these lists helps students filter through data from more than 1,800 colleges and universities to help them make a very important life decision.
“The U.S. News & World Report rankings are a testament to the excellent programs and services provided by faculty and staff across SUNY, and a reminder to our current and future students that SUNY is dedicated to providing them with a highly valuable degree that will serve them well long after graduation,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher.
With SUNY’s dedicated efforts to increase completion across New York, provide access to all who seek higher education, and maintain affordability, it’s no surprise to find such a large number of schools being recognized on a national level.
