For the entire month of October, Fulton-Montgomery Community College’s Public Safety Department gave students an opportunity to make a difference in their community. In lieu of paying a parking fine, students could bring in non-perishable food items to be donated to those in need. Many wound up doing just that.
According to Public Safety Director Mark Pierce, students were thrilled to participate. “Not only were students excited about the opportunity, but they went above and beyond the amount of non-perishables we expected to receive.” Pierce said that between 250-300 pounds of food items were collected and were delivered to the Gloversville Senior Center soon after collection.
