So what makes these guys tick? We had a chance to talk to each of them to get the answers ourselves. Read on to learn a little something about each of this year’s participants, arranged by the bracket they are competing in. Then, be sure to cast your votes in each round.

Below are the Region 1 participants.

  1. What school are you from?
    The College at Brockport
  1. Favorite place to hang out in your campus?

  1. One superpower you would want?
Since Eagles already can fly, let’s go with the power to move objects with my mind. Because who wouldn’t want to move things with their mind?
  1. Which of the Seven Dwarfs is most like you?
If it’s before I’ve had my morning coffee it’s Grumpy, amirite? Heh. But seriously, folks, I’m kind of combination of Happy and Doc, with a little Bashful thrown in for good measure.
  1. What is your favorite pizza topping?
Fresh fish, caught from nearby Lake Ontario. Hey, I am an Eagle, you know.
  1. Which mascot would you team up with in a three-legged race?
I think choosing Roody Roo would be the prudent choice, just for the hopping ability. Between flying and hopping, we’d need about 3 steps to win the race.

FIT - Stitch

FIT – Stitch

  1. What is your name?
My name is Stitch! Pretty fashionable, don’t you think?
  1. What school are you from?
    Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
  1. Favorite place to hang out in your campus?
Being that I like to stay in shape, my favorite place to hang out on campus is the Stanton Fitness Center. Working out helps me keep up with competition from other SUNY mascots.
  1. One fact about your school/campus that most people don’t know?
Many people do not realize that FIT offers seven different master’s degrees in addition to bachelor’s and associate’s degrees. And here’s a bonus fun fact about tigers: Tiger stripes are like fingerprints. No two tigers have the exact same pattern.
  1. Favorite on-campus eatery?
My favorite place to eat on campus is the dining hall. They have a lot of great choices and also a Starbucks for when I need a caffeine boost. Being a mascot can be hard work!
  1. Cool thing to do in the surrounding area?
When I have free time, I like to roam around on the High Line or the Hudson River Greenway. There are beautiful views of the Hudson River and a path that stretches for miles along the river where I go for runs or bike rides. Other times, when I’m in the mood to relax, I just like to just stroll or lie down in the grass, take in the sun, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area.
  1. One superpower you would want?
Being a tiger who likes to work out, I am already super fast and super strong. But I wish I had teleportation powers! It would be nice to be able to transport myself to my native jungle habitat to visit my other tiger family on the weekends or over spring break!
  1. Which of the Seven Dwarfs is most like you?
Though I love my job and FIT, I think Grumpy and I have a lot in common, and not just because of the big nose! Just as Grumpy was the hero who saved Snow White from the Evil Queen, I watch over and protect my FIT family!
  1. What is your favorite pizza topping?
In my jungle habitat, we don’t have good pizzerias, so one of the things I love best about working as the mascot of FIT is the abundance of local pizzerias near campus! My favorite topping combo is chicken, bacon, and ranch…mmmm!
  1. Which mascot would you team up with in a three-legged race?
That would be Red from SUNY Oneonta because he’s got wings. If we fell behind in the race, his wings would help us speed ahead. He also breathes fire, and that’s pretty cool too!

  1. Favorite on-campus eatery?
Out of the Sarah Wells Café, the Shepard Center Cafeteria and the Hudson View Café? Look, if I tell you my favorite, the other two will stop giving me sugar cubes!

    There’s no improving on perfection.
  1. Which of the Seven Dwarfs is most like you?
