Join us in welcoming the newest addition to our team–two undergraduate students from Binghamton University. Both Jack and Steven will be immersed in all-things-SUNY this summer!
Hi everyone!
My name is Jack Fischer and I’m a sophomore at Binghamton University studying computer science and math, and I’ll be working with the SUNY New Media Team this summer, focused on all things data. I fell in love with working with data as a freshman, studying how different universities are covered in the media, and I hope I can help make SUNY even better, and better known!
Many in my huge family got their start at a SUNY school. While I grew up in a small town, I was excited to have the opportunity to go to a big school like Binghamton University, with the resources and affordability of SUNY. I’ve seen first hand the huge importance of public education. Everything we put into this system is helping students build their future and careers and can create untold prosperity for families in the future.
With the advent of big data and Chancellor Zimpher’s commitment to integration and systemness, I know SUNY can be better than ever, and more efficient while serving even more students.
At Binghamton, when not coding, I enjoy hanging out in the Scholars Program, rubik’s cubes, participating in the Newman House and exploring the nature preserve.
Hello,
My name is Steven Molinari and I will officially be a senior at Binghamton University this fall. I am a political science major trying to improve the quality of life in the State of New York, and I am open to any and every opportunity that will give me that chance.
I transferred to Binghamton University in the spring of 2013 from the College of Staten Island, a CUNY school. It was probably one of the best decisions I’ve made–not because I didn’t like my past school, but because I needed the chance to experience living on campus. Also, I knew that going to a SUNY school meant that I could obtain such a high quality of education for such a low cost.
As a political science student, I am constantly learning about public policy, government structures, historical insight, etc. One thing that I really love about my major is that it gives me the opportunity to improve my writing and public speaking skills. These are two qualities that I believe every person should acquire. I have currently been looking to apply to graduate schools for public administration in hopes of achieving an MPA (Masters in Public Administration). I believe that this will benefit me for the future of possibly one day becoming a member of local government in an administrative position.
Currently, I am a member of several groups and organizations at my university. I enjoy public service activities, playing cards, running, specific board games, sports, and interacting with new people. I hope I can give back to SUNY in the same way that it has given to me.
