A number of volunteer and service projects were undertaken by students at SUNY Plattsburgh this year. An effort as part of Project H.E.L.P. (Hands Engaged in Linking People) had more than 200 letters written for the Wounded Warrior Project, thanking service members and veterans for their sacrifice. The mission of Project H.E.L.P is to provide students with volunteer experiences that are compatible with their interests, passions, talents, and skills and that foster a sense of personal and civic responsibility while meeting the needs of the local community.
Also through Project H.E.L.P., Plattsburgh students volunteered for the local Adopt-a-Highway clean-up day in September through the Center for Student Involvement.
Finally, the SUNY Plattsburgh Center for Student Involvement has organized a number of food drives for the local Interfaith Food Shelf, collecting nonperishable foods for those in need in the North Country and surrounding areas.
