In a popular yearly report, U.S. News and World Report publishes lists of rankings to showcase the best colleges in numerous categories across the nation. The 2016 Best Colleges rankings and guidebook are out today, and again, multiple SUNY campuses are showcased throughout a number of rankings lists, from Best Public Universities (National) to Best Online Programs, and much more.
This 31st edition for 2016 aims to let prospective students analyze and compare colleges based on a number of common quality indicators, such as retention, graduation rates, faculty strength, and more. The ranking methodology first categorizes schools based on the type of institution they are as developed by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. In addition, data is gather from each institute of up to 16 indicators of academic performance, which is then ranked against peer institutions. When compared to one another, these rankings offer students a good starting point to picking the right college for themselves.
“The State University of New York has historically offered students an affordable, accessible higher education that is second to none,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. “As we work to bring the benefits of a SUNY education to even more students through our Completion Agenda, we are proud to see so many of our colleges and universities recognized by U.S. News & World Report again this year.”
