An education from The State University of New York carries with it immense value for each of our alumni. With more than 7,000 degree options in-person or online, a huge network of successful alumni, and 64 colleges and universities that have the lowest average tuition in the northeast, it’s easy to see why. It’s also no surprise that business and finance source Kiplinger’s constantly recognizes SUNY schools when it measures the best values in college throughout the United States. Just as in 2016, once again their 2017 list of Best College Values includes many SUNY schools.
In compiling this annual list, Kiplinger’s looks for schools that offer a quality education at an affordable price. The authors look at how competitive admission is to a particular school along with how efficiently students are able to earn a degree. For public schools, they then measure those findings with both in-state and out of state tuition numbers before ranking the schools.
SUNY’s commitment to financial transparency and helping students earn their degrees with as little financial burden as possible has been long standing. For example, with the SUNY Smart Track program, both prospective and current students have the help they need at their disposal to understand the complete cost of a SUNY education as well as how to manage their money so they get through school, and life, in the best financial situation. And just recently, Smart Track was expanded to offer financial guidance to high school students and their parents as they begin their search for their perfect college.
In addition to Smart Track, the SUNY Completion Agenda is bringing ideas to campuses that help students graduate on time, or even early, ensuring them that no additional costs will be accrued due to extended stays in college. After all, a student can’t be burdened with extra costs if they aren’t spending extra time at college.
