The conversation around the cost of attending college has been ongoing for a long time now with many sides offering opinions on what the line should be at. But cost doesn’t mean much without value attached to it. In order to truly understand the cost of an investment, we need to be aware of the value said investment can return to us. This is what Kiplinger’s tries to do for us every year with their values rankings. They’re now back with their 2018 edition of the Best College Values in America.
To put together this annual list, Kiplinger’s collects data from nearly 1,200 public and private four-year colleges and universities throughout the United States. These measures, a combo of quality and cost criteria, are then put together to create a list of 300 of the best college values in the country. Measures include:
- Competitiveness
- Graduation Rates
- Academic Support
- Cost and Financial Aid
- Student Indebtedness
- Salary Yardstick
This ranking list, based on affordability and outcomes, is another symbol of how SUNY’s commitment of access to all, affordability, and a path to completion lead to a well-valued higher education.
