The Mohawk Valley Community College baseball team recently donated over 300 pounds of bathroom toiletry items to The Feed Our Veterans Organization based in Utica. The Feed Our Veterans Program was started in 2008. Since its conception, the program has fed over 25,000 veterans and their family members. The Feed Your Veterans Program not only helps Veterans through food drives, but also helps veterans with public education outreach.
The Hawks has also contributed a check for $250 towards their food pantry. The donated items came from MVCC Baseball players and their families along with help from the wonderful faculty and staff at MVCC. The Feed Our Veterans program most often receives donated food but rarely receives personal hygiene items, and this is where MVCC stepped up to the plate to assist. The Hawks have made this an annual tradition since 2010 and plan on continuing the tradition, as the Feed Our Veterans Organization relies on donations made from others to continue its mission of helping veterans and their families who are battling hunger.
