The students in the SUNY Schenectady County Community College‘s Student Volunteer Organization (SVO) collected holiday gifts for children around the world which will be distributed by the Operation Christmas Child Organization. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s purse, which is an international relief organization. Their mission is to fill shoeboxes with small gifts and to mail them to children around the world to be received in time for their holiday celebration. The students collected donations, wrapped the shoe boxes and filled them with small gifts. One of the SVO members has been participating in this project for many years with her own children. The shoeboxes will be mailed in Schenectady and sent around the world. Each box contains a holiday card with a personal message written by the students. How very exciting to have the SUNY name travel far and wide!!!
