This fall, the SUNY Purchase College Activities Board took students to participate in the Breakfast Run, a program hosted through the Midnight Run, a non-profit organization that orchestrates different morning and night time runs to provide clothes, food, and toiletries to the homeless population in New York City.
Putting together the breakfast runs at Purchase is a two-part service opportunity. Students not only have the opportunity to participate in the physical breakfast run, but they also come together to prepare beforehand. The preparatory portion of the run includes sandwich and toiletry kit making, as well as sorting clothes.
Thanks to generous donations from faculty, staff, and Chartwells, the students were able to make over 70 toiletry kits and 50 sandwiches to pass out to those in need. Thanks to the students who took time. out of they busy schedules, a few more people in need in NYC are able to be warm and fed during these cold winter months.
