SUNY Cobleskill students and staff pitched in to host two Dairy and Pantry Drive Through events in May and June, open to all community members free of charge. Product bundles given to patrons included a variety of dairy, frozen items, shelf-stable products, and special donations from Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and Cabot Creamery. Bundles were also delivered to those who could not participate on-site.
The first day of the Drive Through saw volunteers distribute more than 20,000 pounds of food from the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, 120 gallons of milk from Mountainside Farms of Roxbury, New York, and a pallet of cereal from Price Chopper of Cobleskill.
The Dairy and Pantry Drive Through was possible through the support of volunteers from SUNY Cobleskill and the surrounding community, and through the cooperation of Schoharie County Farm Bureau, the Cobleskill Elks, and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. These events were a great demonstration of how agricultural stewardship and sustenance can be extended to our neighbors, especially during times of great uncertainty and need.
