The College of Nursing at Erie Community College has been involved in volunteer initiatives during the rollout of the COVID vaccination. Throughout the campus, there was an overwhelming enthusiasm for students to render their time, professionalism, and community service to the community nearby. It was an opportunity to make a difference, unite with healthcare professionals, and represent the Nursing Department on a crucial and timely campaign to vaccinate Erie County residents.
With the Erie County Health Department, vaccines were administered at the ECC North campus to county residents who were all too eager to roll up their sleeves.
Sometime in June 2021, Erie County reached a milestone of more 50% vaccination among its population, thanks to the services provided at ECC. Lorraine Dalfin, an in-coming Level IV Nursing student proudly said, “we made a difference in achieving the 50% vaccination milestone!” Students at ECC were proud to help save lives and make western New York a safer and healthier place to be.
