At The State University of New York, we know there’s a great place for you at one of our 64 campuses—and we want to make sure you know it, too, with SUNY Match.
On average, a student applies to two of SUNY’s 64 colleges and universities. Through the SUNY Match program, some students who apply to SUNY may receive additional personalized recommendations that match their college preferences and goals.
Beginning in 2023, the SUNY Match program identifies applicants who are eligible for direct admission to additional SUNY colleges based on features such as your intended major and location. There is no additional application fee, which saves you $50 per additional application.
How will you know if you have a SUNY Match?
Congratulations! When you match to more SUNY schools, you will receive an email from SUNY alerting you of a new, expanded opportunity.
In the email, you will see SUNY campus matches. When you click on the link to the form, you can choose to share your applications with those schools. After you choose your college(s) to receive your SUNY application, notify your counselor. Your high school counselor can upload supporting documents via Application Manager in the SUNY Counselor Portal.
Next steps after receiving your matches
After you receive your SUNY matches, the choice is yours. Here are your next steps to choose a college before you enroll.
- Take a quick look at the campuses on your list. Learn more about the campus size, its location, programs, campus life, and take a virtual tour.
- Authorize the release of your application to the colleges you choose.
- Contact the campus admissions office to find out what is needed to complete your application.
- Tell your high school counselor where you applied so they can send your supporting documents, recommendation letters, and transcripts to the college.
- Send your FAFSA to the colleges by adding the college code to your FAFSA application.
- Schedule a campus tour and visit the campuses in person.
- Make your final decision and send your deposit.
