As colleges continue to find new ways to address the needs and demands of prospective and current students, the way some sources measure their value and relevance changes. When it comes to college rankings, The Princeton Review’s annual list of Best Colleges is a consistent source that is entirely based on how students attending the schools in their Best Colleges book feel, and that data is gathered in a student survey about their colleges and their experiences at them.
The 2023 edition of The Princeton Review’s Best Colleges surveyed 165,000 students at the 389 schools in the book to find out how they feel about 1) their school’s academics/administration, 2) life at their college, 3) their fellow students, and 4) themselves. The answers are then compiled using a scoring rubric that allows the publication to compare student opinions from college to college in a consistent manner. The overall list of Best Colleges is not ranked numerically, but smaller top 25 lists that are arranged by question or topic are. You can learn more about The Princeton Review’s College Ranking Methodology on their website.
SUNY schools have been named to multiple lists in this year’s rankings, including five schools among the Best Colleges across the country. It’s another example of how SUNY is continually putting programs, supports, and opportunities out to meet the needs of all of our prospective and current students.
