The athletes at Purchase College love to find time between practice, workouts, and games to give back when they can. Recently, members of the men’s lacrosse team collected and delivered 415 lbs of coffee, 46 lbs of hot chocolate, and 5,944 lbs of cups to the Connecticut-based organization, Homes for the Brave.
With an emphasis on veterans, Homes for the Brave provides housing and services necessary to help individuals experiencing homelessness return to a productive and meaningful life.
The project this year took place from mid-September through mid-November, as the team collected donations of coffee, a much-loved beverage at the facility that serves veterans and homeless individuals with housing, vocational training, and life skills coaching. The thousands of pounds of total donations were delivered on November 13, 2023.
The lacrosse team leadership council chose Homes For The Brave as their community service project because members took to heart that US Veterans are the single largest demographic group at risk for homelessness every single day.
