For over 45 years, the UB Employees Campaign for the Community has given all university employees and retirees a way to make meaningful contributions to charitable organizations worldwide. Since its beginning, more than $20 million has been raised and donated to charitable organizations in New York and around the world.
For the fifth year in a row, the UB Bakery and Campus Dining and Shops promoted a Thanksgiving-themed pie sale across campus, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the UB Employees Campaign for the Community.
The campus community heard the call and came to help, with bakers making variations of classic apple pie, pumpkin pie, and peanut butter ganache pie. The highly successful campaign experienced record numbers this fall with 272 pies being sold, generating $1,904 in support of the campaign.
This year’s campaign chairs, Dr. Brian Hamluk, vice president for student life and Evviva Weinraub Lajoie, vice provost for university libraries, put a lot of work to make the campaign a success.
