Greek life at SUNY Plattsburgh came together this fall to help community members in need during the holiday season.
School fraternity and sorority organizations competed in a food drive competition that lasted six weeks during the fall semester. Each week organizations competed to see who could collect the most food items for donation. Beginning in October, all donations were collected in the fraternity and sorority lounge, ending just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
As a collective community, students were able to donate 1,393 items. The items were donated before the holidays to the Interfaith Food Shelf of Plattsburgh, which can feed up to 500 families every month, providing nourishment to those in need in local communities.
With the fraternity and sorority community coming together, students were able to make a huge impact on local families within the small community near campus.
