Student support critical to their success in college. Suffolk Community College Campuses‘ food pantries have made a significant impact this year by assisting hundreds of students facing food insecurity. Through various initiatives such as food drives, the college, in collaboration with Long Island Cares-The Harry Chapin Food Bank, campus clubs, and various departments, successfully raised funds and collected donations for each food pantry.
During the recent Thanksgiving holiday, our campuses generously contributed turkeys, turkey breasts, chicken roasters, pork loins, boxes of fixings, and supermarket gift cards to dozens of students and their families. This collective, ongoing effort across the entire college serves as a testament to our commitment to alleviating food insecurity experienced by some of our students and community members.
Here, we highlight the dedication of Gianna Ippolito and Daniel Kriegel, Food Pantry Volunteers, and Get There From Here Scholars, who have played a crucial role in supporting this noble cause. Their efforts, along with the collaborative spirit of the college community, contribute to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
