The It’s On Us Chapter at SUNY Cobleskill executed two particularly noteworthy campaigns in 2023. During the month of April, designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Chapter spearheaded the creation of comfort kits tailored for survivors of sexual violence. Subsequently, these meticulously assembled kits found their way to local entities such as Catholic Charities, police departments, and Planned Parenthood. Over the course of the semester, the Chapter orchestrated a series of events, fundraisers, and programs with the primary aim of amassing personal hygiene products. In April, a collaborative effort with the campus community was initiated, resulting in the accumulation of over 1400 donations and the assembly of 92 comfort kits.
The Chapter’s impactful endeavors continued in October, which serves as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Collaborating with the local Catholic Charities, students proactively contributed to the organization’s Domestic Violence Program. Through a multifaceted approach involving educational programs, tie-dye events featuring purple shirts, fundraising initiatives, and solicitation of donations, the Chapter not only raised upwards of $500 but also procured 49 stuffed animals, 75 sets of children’s pajamas, and 55 pairs of women’s and children’s slippers. These thoughtful acquisitions were subsequently directed toward individuals profoundly affected by domestic violence, reflecting the Chapter’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those impacted by such adversities.
