This year, employees at Upstate Medical University participated in United Way’s Days of Caring, using their skills to improve indoor and outdoor spaces.
First, staff performed pruning, raking, and maintenance on Sarah’s Path and Playground at the Jowonio School in Syracuse as part of the Days of Caring outreach. The path is part of a sensor tool for students at the school.
In addition to the outdoor work, the employees in Upstate’s Emerging Leaders United team also fixed and painted walls at the Chadwick Residence. The Chadwick Residence, one of Upstate’s Your Cause charities, provides housing for homeless women and their children for up to two years and helps residents with a strong transition to independent living.
The Upstate contingent was part of more than 1,000 employees from various businesses across the city and county who took part in painting, cleaning, and building for dozens of agencies as part of the United Way’s Day of Caring. The efforts were felt throughout Central New York.
