Harry Potter’s favorite magical sport, Quidditch, comes to life this Saturday (March 24) at the First Annual Knight Cup tournament at SUNY Geneseo
SUNY Geneseo’s first annual Quidditch tournament will occur this Saturday (March 24) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the college’s Letchworth Fields. Several area college teams will be vying for the Knight Cup: SUNY Geneseo; SUNY Cortland; Syracuse University; University of Rochester; Nazareth College; Edinboro University; and the Ive’s Pond Quidditch Club from Buffalo.
Teams are asked to BYOB (bring your own broom) for the event.
Geneseo’s team, one of more than a dozen intramural sports at Geneseo, is part of the International Quidditch Association, which governs 1,000 clubs worldwide. It’s the only intramural sport adapted from the $15 billion Harry Potter empire.
For more on Geneseo Quidditch, see a feature on page 13 of the college’s latest alumni magazine, Geneseo Scene.
