The holidays remind us this is the season of giving. All members of SUNY make a concerted effort to volunteer and contribute to their respective campuses and local communities. The 30 Days of Giving campaign highlights students and faculty across all of our 64 campuses who participate in volunteerism and give back to those in need. With over 467,000 students and three million alumni, we want to celebrate the impact the SUNY community has made in all of their unique community service projects. As we learned last year, the byproduct of taking volunteerism to scale is not only building character in our students themselves as they join our over three million alumni, but also to set an example of impact as the nation’s largest university system.

Empire State College
SUNY Empire State College Collects More Than 350 lbs of Food for Food Bank of Central New York
SUNY Empire State College in collaboration with the SUNY Center for Professional Development, and SUNY Upstate Medical OASIS/Healthlink, all located at 6333 State Route 298, East Syracuse collected more than 350 lbs of food which was delivered to the Food Bank of Central New York.
Beyond East Syracuse SUNY Empire State College also collected donations at its sites in Utica, Fort Drum, Watertown, and Auburn.
“The Food Bank of Central New York provides a great service to those among us with the least and I am happy that we were able to help them this holiday season” said Nikki Shrimpton, dean of the college’s Central New York Center. “We plan to continue holding food drives throughout the year as we know that families are in need year round” she continued.
“We thank SUNY Empire State College for their continued support of the Food Bank of Central New York. The donated food will be distributed throughout the emergency food network in central and northern New York” said Lynn Hy, Director of Philanthropy at the Food Bank of Central New York.
