The holidays remind us this is the season of giving. All members of SUNY make a concerted effort to volunteer and contribute to their respective campuses and local communities. The 30 Days of Giving campaign highlights students and faculty across all of our 64 campuses who participate in volunteerism and give back to those in need. With over 467,000 students and three million alumni, we want to celebrate the impact the SUNY community has made in all of their unique community service projects. As we learned last year, the byproduct of taking volunteerism to scale is not only building character in our students themselves as they join our over three million alumni, but also to set an example of impact as the nation’s largest university system.

Day 16
SUNY Cobleskill
Throughout the year, SUNY Cobleskill is deeply involved in community activities. Below and just three of the many ways that students reach out to impact New Yorkers.
Empty Bowls Home-Run
Hats off to the Student Government Association for their leadership and the bevy of campus volunteers who helped make this year’s Empty Bowls event a huge success! This broad based partnership to combat hunger speaks to the heart of community engagement and exemplifies the enormous power of leveraging campus resources with those of the community. Over 700 bowls were purchased and $4,100 was raised to support local food pantries. Thanks to all those who made it happen. See you again next year.
Spaghetti Dinner Raises More Than $1,200 for ‘Wounded Warriers’
The SUNY Cobleskill Veteran Affairs Office would like to thank our campus community for your support of the Veteran’s Day Spaghetti Dinner. We had over 200 people in attendance, including a great diversity of students, faculty/staff and community members. It truly was a great event. The event raised over $1200 for the wounded warrior project which far outreached our projections, thank you so much for your support. A special thanks to our Culinary Department, Student Veterans Association, Community Service Club, Cobleskill Auxiliary Services, Facilities Management, Residential Life Office and the many Student/Faculty Volunteers who helped.
Help Family In Need: Adopt A Family
As the holidays approach, it’s time to kick off our annual Adopt a Family program. Each year our campus community has stepped forward to help families in need enjoy a traditional holiday celebration. A limited number of families are available this year and can be selected from a list at the Student Life Center starting Thursday, November 21st. Donations are due by Friday, December 13th and can be dropped off at the Student Life Center.
