The new school year is right around the corner. Soon, many students will be moving back to campus, some for the first time, and faculty and staff will be getting a new curriculum ready for the classrooms. And with all of us coming back to campus soon, there will be a need for new goods and tools to make our living spaces, offices, and time away from campus convenient and efficient. We’re here to tell you how to get those goods easier and cheaper than you thought.

SUNY is great for so many reasons. We all know the value of SUNY tuition in regard to the education students get for it. But in addition to that, we are always looking for more ways to save you money. For example, did you know that there are partnerships with many companies that provide our students, faculty, staff, and alumni some excellent discounts for your retail, entertainment, and personal needs? These discounts come from many different sectors including:

The discounts for goods and services are wide ranging and include more than 150 options focused on students among the nearly 200 total discounts available to the SUNY family.

Discount programs at SUNY

In addition to the retail discounts, SUNY offers discount programs like the PerksCard. The PerksCard offers deals by region to help you save money on everyday purchases, so the offers are focused around your campus whether you’re in the north country, southern tier, or elsewhere. There are even show discounts, movie discounts, and great deals at restaurants. All the deals vary by location giving our students and staff the best options in their area. You can enroll via the instructions for each region on the web site with the unique regional pass code. Then use your Perks Card when making purchases wherever the program is accepted.

Do you travel? Or is home far away from New York State? There are benefits for you too. Perks at Work via SUNY is an online discount program with offers from a wide variety of nationally recognized merchants in many categories including electronics, toys, apparel, flowers & gifts, and home. The purchases made through Perks at Work can earn you “WOW Points”, which can then be used towards future purchases. It’s easy to join. Just request the access code from your campus Benefits Office and register with your email to get to saving.

After we get our shopping out of the way, how about some entertainment? SUNY wants you to enjoy different attractions in your area during your time off and we want to help you do that for a discount! That’s where Plum Benefits comes into play. The Plum Discounts program offers exclusive discounts of up to 50% off tickets to concerts and shows and up to 60% off hotels, with access to preferred seating and special offers for top shows, attractions, theme parks, sporting events, movie tickets, and much more. So if you want to go see Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Billy Joel, or any other concert, you can find ways to save money on the big night. It’s easy to get into this program by using  promo code “SUNY518” to enroll.

So this is the call to get used to all the discounts available to you, our SUNY family. Also don’t forget that for students, there’s even more deals to be had with use of a student ID card.

Happy shopping.

When I went to register for the PerksCard, it told me invalid group code. Is SUNY still participating? Is the (North) group code outdated? Thanks.

Okay, ignore all the other regions, and click on Albany. It takes you to a new login page that then lets you choose your region.
