Homecoming is a beloved American tradition at many colleges and universities across the country, and SUNY is no exception. More than just a football game, Homecoming is typically a weekend-long event that instills school pride in current students while giving alumni the opportunity to visit and reconnect with their alma maters. We’ve mentioned before the many benefits of attending your school’s Homecoming, including the value for both students and alumni. With 64 campuses and nearly 200 years of history, you can bet that SUNY offers a wide range of Homecoming Weekend activities throughout the month of October, from decades-long traditions to brand-new events. Some homecomings started last week with celebrations and events. Here are just a few more fun and exciting things happening soon on SUNY campuses during this year’s Homecoming season.
Stony Brook University – 2015 Wolfstock BBQ & Game. Don’t miss the Homecoming tradition of Wolfstock at Stony Brook! Get together with friends, alumni and Wolfie the Mascot on October 17th at the Barbecue Before the Game for some delicious food, family fun in the Kids Zone, and entertainment. Following the BBQ, be sure not to miss the Seawolves Football Homecoming Game!
SUNY Plattsburgh – Craft Beer Tasting Event. For alumni and students 21 and older, the Plattsburgh Brewing Company will be holding a craft beer tasting event on October 17th. Meet brew master Jason Stoyanoff, learn about beer making and taste a variety of on-site brewed beers. From light to dark, hoppy to malty, there will be something for every beer lover’s taste. The event costs $10 per person and includes a complimentary SUNY Plattsburgh beer mug!
University at Albany – Nick Cannon Presents Wild N Out. Looking for something fun to do after the football game is over? Look no further, because comedian Nick Cannon will be performing on campus at UAlbany on October 10th. You won’t want to miss this free event! Nick Cannon Presents Wild N Out is sure to be a fun-filled evening of hilarious sketch comedy that will no doubt have you laughing for hours.
SUNY Geneseo – Special Symposium on the 30th Anniversary of the C2D1 Haunting. In winter of 1985, college students living in Erie Hall were terrorized by an extreme haunting in Room C2D1 that lasted several months. The C2D1 Haunting is now an internationally-known legend and a paranormal symposium is being held on Saturday, October 17th in honor of its 30th anniversary! There will be a vendor area, a live musical concert, a haunted survival panel, unique professional lectures, a keynote speaker, a campus ghost walk, and more.
Binghamton University – Zip Line Campus Tours. Why go on a walking tour when you can zip through campus instead? Alumni and visitors 18 years of age or older, as well as University students, faculty and staff are invited to take a ride down the 225-foot zipline of the Challenge Ropes Course on campus on October 10th for just $10 a person.
