It’s finally here. SUNYCON 2016 is ready to go from New York City. This year’s topic, Degrees of Influence: The Forces Shaping the Future of Higher Education will dive in to a question that affects higher education institutes and employees across the country. How can we leverage the significant national attention we’ve been receiving from the media to adapt and prove we’re far from obsolete?
Chancellor Nancy Zimpher started SUNYCON five years ago in New York City in order to raise awareness of issues affecting colleges and universities across the country and how we can learn and improve from them. Since then we have come a long way, doubling in speakers and widening the range of topics of conversation. ANd people have taken notice, not just in New York, but across the country.
This year, with all types of plenaries and workshops ranging from “Shut Up About Harvard,” about the media depictions of college, to “The Morbid Fascination with eath of Humanities,” about the worries of a clash between STEM and liberal arts learning, to “Misplaced Priorities in College Sports,” about the popularity of college athletics and how we can reconcile the college student with the superstar athlete, you can be sure to find a topic you are passionate about. If you couldn’t make it to this year’s SUNYCON, worry not, we have gathered various ways you can join the conversation.
- Follow us on Twitter (@SUNY) and join in on the conversations by using #SUNYCON.Your comments will be seen by all.
- A Twitter Storify feed, which you can follow along with as well, will be gathered from the conference to allow you to follow along and ask questions to the speakers to get answers to the many issues you are interested in.
