During the holiday season, many people come together to join different causes that help those in need in their local communities. This year, the staff at SUNY System Administration was no exception as many took part in the annual Equinox Thanksgiving Dinner preparation event held at the Empire State Plaza. Employees dedicated their time to prepare meals filled with turkey, stuffing, and all the trimmings that would be enjoyed by approximately 10,000 people during the Thanksgiving holiday.
The SUNY Community Service Club ensures a smooth volunteering experience to all employees by finding ways for all to participate in events like this. This year, over 20 employees were split into two teams to help the Equinox Thanksgiving preparations along with one group going to cook a Thanksgiving feast for families at the South End Children’s Cafe.
Equinox is a non-profit community organization that helps adults and youth with chemical dependency, victims of domestic violence, homeless youth and those suffering from mental illnesses. This Thanksgiving, they hosted their 47th annual Thanksgiving Dinner which saw many people take hours out of their day and time off with loved ones to ensure others had a warm meal on Thanksgiving. Equinox also has other volunteer opportunities throughout the year for anyone looking to lend a hand.
