The brothers of Alpha Omega Chi fraternity at SUNY Canton have helped St. Mary’s Church in Canton with various maintenance projects during the past year. They have collectively spent more than 60 hours helping with lawn and facility cleanup efforts.
According to Paul J. Schrems, St. Mary’s pastoral associate for administration, the fraternity has pitched in on numerous occasions to help their limited staff with labor-intensive maintenance tasks.
“Their commendable efforts belie the assumption that today’s students are only concerned with themselves,” he said. “They are certainly doing their part to bridge the town-gown divide and are a credit to SUNY Canton.”
Fraternity Chapter President Dylan Brenno said the brothers are always willing to help local organizations in any way they can.
“I continue to be impressed by Alpha Omega Chi’s willingness to assist our friends in the community,” said SUNY Canton Greek Life and Community Relations Coordinator Amanda L. Deckert. “I am always able to call them with any request, and they are enthusiastic and eager to help.”
