When it comes to picking the college that best fits your needs, there are many factors prospective students use to figure out what school is the right match. From programs, to living arrangements and location, many aspects have an impact on a student’s final decision. But in today’s day and age, value is a major aspect for all students. To help students judge a college’s value, Forbes has recently released its annual Best Value Colleges List for 2017.
This list is 300 schools long and there are many factors measured, including data from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard and PayScale, the world’s largest salary database. Forbes asks the question, “which schools are worth the investment?” as it comes up with a methodology to measure the best bang for the tuition buck. The factors it concentrates on create a formula that measure a combination of a school’s quality, post-graduate earnings, student debt, graduation success, retention rate, Pell Grant recipients, and overall tuition and fees.
All of these factors are important to prospective students, and SUNY strives to give all students these benefits they seek. From our low tuition, low student debt totals, completion success efforts and results, and more, SUNY colleges and universities are leaders in offering the college experience that matters to students. And with the newly announced Excelsior Scholarship, the value aspect of a SUNY education has just taken another step forward.
This year, many SUNY institutions made the Forbes list of Best Value Colleges. Those campuses are:
- #43 Binghamton University
- # 83 Stony Brook University
- #87 SUNY Geneseo
- #96 University at Buffalo
- #131 University at Albany
- #162 SUNY New Paltz
- #231 College of Environmental Science and Forestry
