Members of Jefferson Community College‘s Tau Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) spent ten hours collecting votes and donations that would determine the final five faculty and staff, out of ten total, to be pied for a noble cause. The charity organization to benefit from the proceeds is chosen by the most popular pie candidate.
This year, PTK’s Pie-A-Professor raised $400 to be donated to the College’s food pantry, a Jefferson Community School initiative to help students stay on track to complete their degree.
PTK President Courtnee Denton says, “We’re grateful to be able to help because we know it’s an important cause, and that it helps our community. I’m hopeful that participating in pie-a-professor will help my club see the organization and commitment it takes to make a difference and that we’re able to carry those skills through the rest of our lives!”
