Today, SUNY Vice Chancellor and CFO Brian Hutzley will be kicking off Day 2 of the Economic Development Administration’s University Center at Syracuse University Summit for Supporting Student Startups by speaking about how SUNY is making a difference in the world of entrepreneurship and research and the role of collaboration.
The goal of the Summit is to bring together college and university officials to discuss education models, business incubation, and fostering student ideas on businesses and non profits. The Summit represents the official opening of the EDA University Center, which was founded last year through a grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration. Other institutions participating include: Syracuse University, Cayuga Community College, Clarkson University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Cornell University.
Entrepreneurship has long been a priority here at SUNY. SUNY and the Entrepreneurial Century is one of the 6 Big Ideas in the Power of SUNY, and the collaboration between SUNY and other institutions, including the University Center, are just a part of it. That's a very wise move. Entrepreneurship is extremly important. Successful start ups is pretty much one of the best advertisement which a university can have. We all remember where google founder, microsoft founder etc. went to.
