The most magical time of the year is approaching as we get ready for the winter holidays. Family, friends, snowflakes and scenery. But one thing to never forget is that it is also the season of giving. Whether you donate your time, money, or anything else you can give, there is someone on the other end thankful for your donation. This is the basis of our annual 30 Days of Giving campaign, which starts on Thanksgiving Day.
During this time, we highlight SUNY campuses and individuals that have found a unique way to give back to their communities. Through SUNY’s applied learning initiatives, students are given the opportunity to be creative with the ways they give back to the communities that give so much to our students. For example, a few weeks go, the SUNY’s Got Your Back campaign completed a huge milestone when the SUNY Student Assembly filled the 10,000th bag for survivors of domestic violence. So while this is the season of giving, SUNY is always finding ways to give back to the residents of New York State all year long.
During last year’s 30 Days of Giving campaign, we saw campuses organize clothing & food drives, charity walks, learning seminars/classes, and much more.
2016 will be the 5th annual 30 Days of Giving with even more incredible stories of partnership in the name of giving back. Each day you will be able to read a new story about how our students used inventive thinking and strength in numbers to help their neighbors in the best way they know how. The spirit of generosity is strong at SUNY, and we are proud to have these stories to share with you. Stay tuned!
