Those who do and have served in our armed forces are so important to our every day lives. They are here to protect us and the lives we lead, risking their own lives to deliver the safety and freedoms we so cherish. When these active and veteran members of our armed forces seek a higher education, it is on us all to help provide that as a way to help ease the transition from deployment to student life. Here at SUNY, our campuses have and continue to develop new ways to offer support and services to help our veterans transition back to civilian life with an expanded skill set that helps them find a rewarding career.
The Military Times, an independent news source for present military, veterans, friends, and family to keep updated on all news related to the military, has recently published a ranking of schools that are named Best for Vets Colleges: The best schools for military students in 2019. Nine different SUNY schools were named among the best in America for veteran members of our armed forces.
Military Times gave higher institutions in the U.S a comprehensive 150 question survey on five factors: university culture, academic outcomes/quality, student support, academic policies, and cost and financial aid. Then, they reviewed the surveys based on what veterans have signified as important for them in a University and also based on their prior knowledge. The methodology of rankings list then accumulates all the information received and gives us the rankings of which schools made it to the top rankings.
