International Education Week is observed by educational institutions, government agencies, and organizations in over 100 countries to celebrate the benefits of international education, exchange worldwide and promote a broader understanding of our world’s cultures.
SUNY campuses celebrate with events, presentation, discussions, and panels designed to enable communities to join together and foster global understanding, enrich lives and create lasting intercultural connections. The week highlights the impacts and opportunities of our globally engaged communities which embraces diverse perspectives, world cultures and new and thoughtful ways of connecting.

Farmingdale State College – Summer 2026 for Engineering Students – Amsterdam and Berlin
Explore the world-class cities of Amsterdam and Berlin with prof. Khosro Shirvani! You will enroll in the 3-credit course MET 299, Special Topics in Mechanical Engineering. This course aims to deepen students’ understanding of current and emerging topics in engineering technology within a global context. Through hands-on projects, case studies, and exposure to international engineering practices in Amsterdam and Berlin, students will develop practical problem-solving skills and evaluate the global impact of new technologies. The course also emphasizes effective technical communication and cross-cultural collaboration to prepare students for the international engineering workforce.

Binghamton University – Study Abroad: Summer 2026 in London!
United Kingdom: Urban Fiction and Urban Sites is a summer study abroad program led by Binghamton Professor Amir Ahmadi. Students will spend just over 5 weeks on-site in London, exploring the diverse literary portrayals of the city. Participants will study how novels and films create many new Londons out of the same streets, cafés, Tube stations, and riverbanks, see the city like a storyteller, and learn how to become one. Students will get to further experience London through visits to the Dickens Museum, British Library, and Southbank Centre. Earn 4 credits (ENG 380). General education credit will be offered for Humanities (H) and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Social Justice (D). Previous knowledge of the course content is not required.

Farmingdale State College – Summer 2026 in South Italy
This 4-week program is an outstanding opportunity in partnership with Libera Universita’ Mediterranea. The campus is located in the beautiful city of Lecce in the Puglia region of Italy. You will enroll in two courses (for a total of 6 credits): Italian language (Beginner through Advanced, based upon placement test), taught by a LUM professor, and Sustainable Innovation (STS 391), led by Farmingdale State College professor, Francesca Polo. You will participate with students from other American colleges in cultural activities, like pasta making and traditional dance, and excursions to cities and sites in southern Italy, including a sustainable farm. One potentially challenging part of the program is choosing your favorite beach to visit.

Farmingdale State College – Summer 2026 in Edinburgh & Dublin
Study Architecture and Culture (ARC 100) with prof. Orla LoPiccolo in Scotland and Ireland! This 3-credit course provides a foundational study of the art and history of western architecture and the context in which it is built. The course will focus on 20th century to newly built western architectural and urban developments. Course topics include how architecture of today has been influenced by its location, historically significant buildings, art, culture, landscapes, and urbanism. Designed to familiarize students with the architectural thinking of the built environment that surrounds them locally and during an in person or virtual study abroad/away experience to a western city, this course will give students an opportunity to develop an understanding and appreciation of the architecture discipline and its design objectives. Course content is drawn from numerous fields including architectural history and theory, design studies, philosophy, and urban studies. You’ll visit iconic monuments such as the Edinburgh Castle and the Guinness Beer factory!

Farmingdale State College – Summer 2026 in Taiwan
Explore Taiwan in Summer 2026 with Prof. Qing Ai (Dept. Modern Languages). Immerse yourself in Chinese culture, society, entertainment and food as you study Chinese Culture and Civilization (MLG 321). You’ll stay in the beautiful and technologically-advanced city of Xinfeng, the home of our partner school, Minghsin University of Science and Technology. From here you will explore the cities of Taipei, Hsinchu, and Taichung where you will visit monuments, historical, and cultural places. One of the highlights, which will be especially interesting for Tech students, is a visit to the Innovation Museum of TSMC – Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. You can follow prof. Ai on an optional 3-day trip to Tokyo (at an additional cost). Program dates: May 30 – June 11, 2026.
