Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), Inc., the parent organization of Wynn Hospital, is making major strides in workforce development through its collaboration with the Apprenticeship Programs at SUNY. Together, they are strengthening the pipeline of skilled healthcare professionals across the Mohawk Valley region of New York.
Mohawk Valley Health System offers employees an earn-while-you-learn pathway leading to rewarding healthcare careers. New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) recently approved MVHS to administer 16 different trade titles. MVHS provides structured apprenticeships that blend hands-on experience with classroom learning, which supports both new and current employees in gaining the skills and credentials needed for high-demand roles.
Most of the Related Instruction (structured training required for Registered Apprenticeship) for MVHS apprentices is delivered through Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC). MVCC ensures participants receive high-quality, industry-aligned education that meets the evolving workforce needs of the hospital.
The partnership between MVHS, NYSDOL, MVCC, and SUNY highlights how apprenticeships can effectively address healthcare workforce challenges. SUNY’s network of colleges provide apprentices with academic instruction tailored to their career goals, whether they’re entering the field as technicians or progressing into more specialized healthcare roles.
As Wynn Hospital continues to grow as a regional healthcare hub, MVHS’s proactive approach to workforce development ensures a steady pipeline of skilled, dedicated professionals equipped to meet the community’s evolving healthcare needs.
