Two grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) totaling more than $4.3 million have been award to SUNY REACH, a collaborative research network of SUNY’s four academic health centers and the College of Optometry.
The first grant, for $3.7 million, will support research into Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a condition that contributes to vision loss (and in the most serious cases, blindness) in premature infants.
The second grant, for $650,000, positions SUNY’s academic health centers to collectively be one of 25 participants across the U.S. in a national project that aims to speed up early phase clinical trials on new therapies for neurological conditions such as stroke.
What other system of higher ed can harness research potential across campuses like this?
